Artist Biography

Maria Mendoza was born in Miami, Florida and is a multi-disciplinary artist, marbler, performer, and paper engineer currently based in Baltimore Maryland. Maria earned her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) where she studied Fiber Art, Interactive Media, Performance Art and Creative Writing. Maria Mendoza has collectors nationwide and has exhibited all along the east coast.

“Transcentricity" is a series of work that combines painting, printmaking, collage, and paper-engineering, taking the ultimate form of multi-layered concentric circles. Through vibrant colors and textures, the final composition of each piece in “Transcentricity” reflects its own unique cyclical process of creation. The multi-dimensional concentric circles represent points of entry, cerebral environments, and the endless space between thoughts, words and states of being. In this series, the infinite nature of the circle and cosmic texture of the work form inner landscapes that are inspired by cosmic worlds and unseen dimensions as the artist navigates and reflects her own inner cosmos.

During her free time, Maria enjoys practicing aerial acrobatics on aerial silks and yoga. Her cat, Mia, is the love of her life!
